About Us
The Shoreline Power Group is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon, United and Atkins Realis located in Kincardine, Ontario. Shoreline Power Group is the centerpiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program which replaces the main components of 6 reactors at the Bruce Power Nuclear Generating Station.The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, and feeders as well as construction management and trade labor. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064.
The General Foreperson will supervise, coordinate and schedule construction activities on the project for multiple scopes of work in compliance with the contract and the job cost estimate and ensures all the work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship.They are accountable for direct execution of the construction work in their scope. While on shift and functionally they report to the Superintendent.
What You'll Do Here- Responsible to ensure that all work is conducted in a safe manner in compliance with the Joint Ventures Health & Safety and Environmental policies.
- Assist in developing, monitoring, and updating of project schedule with the Superintendent. Ensure subcontractors comply with project master schedule
- Utilize project master schedule to create detailed look ahead schedules for foreman and subcontractors, work planning up to two weeks in advance.
- Assist in developing recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy
- Plan and supervise the work of own forces and subcontractors on the project including determining methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals, and work schedules
- Assume responsibility for productivity of trades and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and equipment and contractual performance of the project
- Understanding and support of EPSCA trade agreements and the Nuclear Project Agreement.
- Application of home company discipline policies and appropriate escalation of performance concerns to Superintendent.
- Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in areas of safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner specified requirements, including bioassay and whole-body count
- Accurate and timely submission of payroll timesheets and ensure worker adherence to Mitrefinch (Mitrefinch where applicable)
- Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, Comprehensive Work Packages (CWPs), Construction, Inspection & Test Plans (CITPs) and project schedule and budget
- Participate in development of Packages (CWPs), Construction Inspection & Test Plans (CITPs) and project schedule and budget
- Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.
- Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality plan.
- Maintain appropriate field documentation including safety records, daily progress reports, training records, T&E and rental records, manpower reports, owner support requests, CWP, CITP documents, etc.
- Participate in basic layout, preparation of work instructions, field engineering activities, etc.
- Maintain lines and levels- verify as built conditions
- Supervise unionized trades personnel
- Minimum of 2 years construction and subcontractor supervision experience
- Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety requirements
- Must understand how to support a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.
- Experience in managing major refurbishment or complex nuclear projects
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry
