We are working with an exciting organization that is seeking an in-house Legal Counsel to join their team. This role offers significant exposure to various business lines including real estate, agriculture, hospitality, sport and entertainment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level lawyer looking to take on a wide variety of legal work while making lasting impact on an organization. Responsibilities: Provide legal and strategic advice to key stakeholders. Assist in managing litigation and dispute files from inception through resolution.
Handle hearings and proceedings, such as Chambers applications in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Residential Tenancy Branch hearings, and Small Claims trials. Conduct legal research and respond to inquiries on matters including litigation, regulatory compliance, employment law, and data privacy.
Act as business partner for various business teams by providing legal support. Draft, review, and negotiate a broad spectrum of legal documents and commercial contracts. Support real estate and corporate transactions. Contribute to residential real estate transactions and conveyancing.
Liaise with external counsel to ensure consistent and effective legal support. Required Experience & Qualifications: Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia. 3-6 years of post-call legal experience, ideally as a general practitioner.
Strong experience in litigation with proven experience appearing before B.C. courts and tribunals. Strong legal research and analytical skills. Business-oriented mindset, able to solve problems independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
