Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the Occupational Health and Safety of all restaurants.- Ensures that risk assessments and accident management systems are in place.
- Inspects and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and government health and safety standards and regulations.
- Ensures standardization across company for all legislation and regulations.
- Follows up on all workplace injuries and communicates with provincial compensation boards.
- Investigates critical injuries and supports communication and reporting to the MOL.
- Monitors Public Health and Safety Inspections and responds when necessary.
- Consolidates, analyzes and summarizes health and safety/compliance data for management, operations, inspections and reports; produces presentations when needed.
- Assists with maintenance and development of standard operating procedures.
- Develops and recommends proactive strategies and cost-effective alternatives to deal with emerging health and safety trends.
- Investigates and determines contributing factors for accidents and/or incidents and recommends prevention or corrective strategies to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
- Implements and monitors adherence to safety norms and regulations
- Assists the Human Resources team in developing orientation packages and current front-line training.
- Facilitates MOL JHSC certification in affiliation with current service provider.
- Facilitates the Food Safety certification program and exams with the current service provider.
- Ensures all locations have an H&S Committee, occupational health & safety requirements (including boards) and up-to-date certifications within their locations.
- Maintains and supports First Aid training and supplies across all Provinces.
- Develops individual continual Improvement plans and programs to ensure restaurants are aligned with our H&S goals.
- Manages injury claims and return to work processes.
- Maintains policy, training, plan and reporting for AODA.
- Provides orientation, safety documents, supplies (i.e. hard hats and vests)and files government papers for active construction sites.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations.
- Knowledge of Food Safety Regulations.
- Food Safety and First Aid certification are assets.
- Resourceful self-starter, with excellent judgment.
- Able to work well under pressure and handle multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
- Approachable and diplomatic, relating well to others.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong relationship building skills both internal and external at all levels.
- Willing to assist with tasks that may be outside the scope of work.
