Toronto - Senior Process Engineering Technologist

Scope of the Position:
The Senior Process Engineering Technologist (also referred to as ‘P.E.T.’) will manage the introduction of new products, processes, and technologies into production. The P.E.T. will review existing manufacturing processes for opportunities to improve safety, quality and productivity, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety, quality and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Performs all duties in a safe manner ensuring the safety of co-workers, contractors and visitors at all times
- Adheres to the company safety program and ensures all contractors follow company safe-work procedures
- Work to develop a cost-effective manufacturing process for new products
- Oversee manufacturing process design projects and ensure projects are completed on time
- Ensure financial budgets are followed throughout the equipment procurement process
- Improve current manufacturing processes to boost productivity, quality, and profitability for the company. Research and recommend new manufacturing technology, work in collaboration with other support departments to improve production equipment functionality. Implement new technology ensuring a smooth transition to full production.
- Lead and/or participate on cross-function teams for projects or production issues
- The incumbent is responsible for awareness, understanding and specific responsibilities of the Environmental Management System (EMS) as stated in EMS policy
- The incumbent is responsible for awareness, understanding, and specific responsibilities of the Quality Management System (QMS) as stated in the Corporate Quality Manual
Qualifications:
- Eng. licenced or eligible for licencing with PEO
- Candidates will possess a degree in Engineering or a diploma as an Engineering Technologist in Mechanical or a similar manufacturing discipline
- 5 – 7 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Keycreator or Solidworks experience, drawing and working with 3D CAD files
- Working knowledge of IATF (TS 16949) & ISO 14001
- Strong technical knowledge in the areas of automated assembly, automated welding, high volume production machining and metal painting processes
- Additional knowledge in any of the following would also be an asset: PLC and HMI programming; vision systems; servo systems; network communication; robotics; ergonomics; line balancing and MOST techniques; GD&T; PHSR & machine guarding; Six Sigma methodology; APQP
- Comfortable working around production equipment in a high-volume production shop floor environment
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and self-directed to prioritize tasks
- Must be highly motivated, a service and team-oriented individual with attention to detail
- Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives
- Strong analytical ability, able to collect and analyze various sources of data
- Supervisory skills are an asset
- Troubleshooting, strong decision making and problem solving skills
- Good oral presentation skills to lead group discussions and meetings
- Good written and graphic illustration presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, strong organizational skills
