2024 Wealth Management, Winter Operational Risk Analyst - Toronto
Job Summary
You will be supporting RBC Wealth Management Canada and RBC Global Asset Management (GAM) Operational Risk management programs. You will be assisting the team in providing expertise, advice and counsel to management and WM Canada and GAM colleagues, enhancing their ability to anticipate and manage operational risks effectively.This position is designed to introduce and develop your understanding of operational risks, control assessment, and regulatory compliance within RBC. You will contribute to the team’s efforts in driving innovation across Wealth Management through automation and leverage of data driven assessments.
Job Description
What will you do?- Analyze operational risk data to identify discrepancies or issues, propose strategies for improved senior management reporting and risk oversight.
- Assist in the preparation of data driven risk assessments contributing to informed decision-making of the Business Senior leadership.
- Support the performance of control assessments and help drive innovation in control design and control testing methods, working with control owners to leverage automation and data to modernize controls testing.
- Develop expertise in products or services and competence in tools and business processes used in the day-to-day activities of the team (e.g. Archer, Tableau, MetricStream).
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have- Currently enrolled in a University Degree program with a focus on Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Strong problem solving, analytical (including qualitative and quantitative analysis) and research skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) as well as the ability to learn new software and systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Interest in operational risk management and regulatory compliance within the financial services industry.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in a related field
- Knowledge of Data Analytics
