What is the opportunity?
As a Senior Manager Compensation, supporting Commercial Banking, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and communication of compensation solutions (salary, short term incentive and equity programs) that support and align with RBC’s compensation principles and Business strategies and objectives.This position is responsible for providing executives and senior management with expert advice on all aspects of compensation programs, policies, initiatives and integrated HR solutions, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the financial and human capital impact of their HR compensation decisions.
This role allows you to showcase your expertise, drive performance, drive employee engagement and partner with key business areas to make an impact.
The Senior Manager is accountable to the Director, Compensation, for successful achievement of the agreed upon goals and objectives, driving a high level of performance, employee engagement, and a superior client experience.
What will you do?- Develop compensation strategies and frameworks that support the business goals and objectives.
- Advance compensation solutions for salary, incentive, direct drive and commission programs that align with RBC’s compensation principles and regulatory expectations, incentivize desired behaviours, and address financial, operational risks and people risks.
- Consult with HR Business Partners and business leaders to integrate and apply compensation programs to initiatives and individual employee circumstances.
- Develop compensation communications that ensure people managers and employees receive timely and easy to understand information.
- Manage market research, including the cost effective collection, modeling and analysis of compensation data, providing meaningful insights and action plans.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with HR Business Partners and leaders; problem solve through root cause analysis; demonstrate the ability to impact and influence.
- Proactively leverage external networks to obtain market intelligence and remain current with market trends.
- Drive efficiency and effectiveness through continuous process improvement, automation and streamlining
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- 5 years+ experience in compensation design and implementation ideally within the technology or consulting industry
- Experience in research and modeling, including the development of spreadsheets, databases and presentations; Mathematical aptitude and analytical thinking
- Confident, articulate, and professional speaking abilities (and experience)
- Ability to present information clearly, effectively and succinctly in various presentation formats
- Strong technical skills in the design and management of sophisticated compensation programs
- Advanced technical skills in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) for use in the design and management of sophisticated compensation programs
- Enjoys working in a collaborative team environment
- Relevant experience in tech/fintech would be a strong asset
- Experience using a Web-based compensation tool, e.g., Pay Factors, Workday
- Experience using macro, SQL, and data visualization tools, e.g., Tableau, PowerBI
- Experience in a large, complex corporate environment
- Experience with internal consulting, including interacting with senior executives
