Overview:
The Production Supervisor position directly supervises employees at the Food manufacturing facility and is responsible for meeting all safety expectations, production schedules and product quality requirements. Candidates must have excellent communication skills to instruct employees on manufacturing processes, motivate performance, implement continuous improvement activities and work with teams throughout the organization.
Hourly Rate: $25.17
Shift: 3:00pm - 11:00pm with the flexibility to train on day shift 7:00am - 3:00pm
Key Ingredients:
- Reports to Production Manager
- Works collaboratively with Quality Assurance, Warehouse and Maintenance
- Works cohesively with other Production Supervisors to achieve daily production KPI’s
- Promotes open communication within the production team and supports food safety and work safety culture in the organization
- Responsible for communicating work safety, food safety and quality messages effectively to all production associates via shift huddles or production meetings
- Understands and enforces GMP’s and plant rules, and monitors GMP compliance in production area
- Provides orientation and training to new employees according to established SOP’s to ensure an effective and efficient work force. Assigns and oversees formal training and signs off on completed training requirements
- Reviews performance of production associates, provides coaching and initiates disciplinary actions when necessary
- Responsible for on-going on-the-job training of new and existing production associates on proper production procedures according to SOP’s and WI’s to ensure work safety and production quality, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of training thereafter
- Ensures team follow safe work practices. Addresses unsafe working conditions and any team member safety concerns. Completes thorough incident investigations and develops corrective actions to appropriately reduce or eliminate risk. Conducts workplace inspections and audits and address risk
- Participates in JHSC initiatives and follows established policies as outlined in the Health and Safety policies.
- Follows up on production associates’ absences and leaves
- Manages logistics of production floor and ensures production processes are carried out efficiently as per schedule and production standards (including pre-op, mid-shift and post-ops checks)
- Assists maintenance in troubleshooting unplanned breakdowns to consistently reduce total plant downtime by prioritizing and allocating resources.
- Ensures machines and work environment are safe and properly set up for daily operation.
- Responsible for verification of production activities as assigned
- Ensures production-related paperwork both physical and electronic is complete with correct information and signoffs at end of shift
- Assists QA in evaluation of product quality and investigation of non-conformances
- Oversees housekeeping of production area, warehouse area, sanitation room and staff common areas
- Oversees end-of-shift sanitation of production area in the absence of Sanitation Supervisor
- Reports existing or potential work safety hazards to Production Manager/Plant Manager
- Reports existing or potential food safety hazards to Production Manager and QA
- Communicates material and supply needs to Production Manager
- Proactively initiates, implements and monitors all continuous improvement activities on work safety, food safety and quality, and production efficiency
- (Those with First-Aid training): Provides first-aid to staff who are injured at work
- Other duties as assigned
Recipe for Success:
- 3 years’ experience in a Supervisor or Team leader role
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a production/manufacturing environment
- Reasonable mechanical aptitude
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer skills
- Must be flexible to work extended hours, day and night shifts, and scheduled weekends.
