We are seeking a highly skilled Water Transient Analysis Engineer to support the planning, design, and optimization of water and wastewater infrastructure systems.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in transient (surge) analysis, hydraulic modeling, and system performance evaluation. This role involves conducting advanced transient analysis, assessing risks, and recommending mitigation strategies to ensure the safe and efficient operation of pipeline systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Hydraulic modelling of wastewater and water networks, including transient analysis, CFD and physical modelling.
  • Perform steady-state and transient (surge) analysis of water and wastewater systems using industry-leading software
  • Analyze transient conditions such as pump start-up/shutdown, valve operations, water hammer, and surge suppression strategies to mitigate risk
  • Interpret model results and provide insights to support infrastructure design and operational decision-making
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers) to optimize system design and operational strategies
  • Prepare and present technical reports, design documentation, and engineering studies for clients and internal stakeholders
  • Plans, schedules, and conducts hydraulic modelling work on projects of small to medium sizes
  • Responsible for budget, schedule and quality standards
  • Has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments
  • Assists in proposal preparation and interviews and may be included in contract negotiations with clients after selection
  • Works closely with subconsultants on projects
  • Active in professional associations, including attendance and participation in local, regional, and national conventions
  • Travel required when requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in consulting engineering with an emphasis in hydraulics of water network
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or eligible to obtain within 1 year
  • Must have demonstrated experience with managing and designing medium sized projects with full responsibility for budget, schedule, contractual obligations and quality standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and project team
  • Deliver high quality services within budget and schedule constraints
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP Certified
  • Experience with CFD modeling
  • Experience with InfoWater
