As we rapidly scale to serve our on and off-Amazon customers, we are looking for a Software Development Manager (SDM) who can lead their team of Software engineers and work across our organization and stakeholders, with both strategic and tactical vision.We are building products that are fundamental to Amazon’s future, and we are tackling some of the world’s most intriguing problems involving software architecture design, customer experience, and business strategy.
As a Software Development Manager, you will co-own driving multi-org, high impacting initiatives for Amazon. Key job responsibilities- Hire, manage, and grow your team of diverse engineers.
- Create and maintain short and long-term product and tech roadmap.
- Contributing to the 3-Year technical and the operational plans for our products and services.
- Influence stakeholders within and outside of the org and be able to work across multiple orgs.
- Deliver value for our customers while also focusing on building the right tech for operational excellence, maintainability and future extensibility.
- Set the right operational models for the teams to succeed.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels of management, building trust across the organization, and demonstrating discretion with sensitive information.
- Demonstrate the ability to break abstract goals into attainable, measurable work items.
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while driving teams to complete goals and execute across multiple parallel running technical projects.
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
