As part of a cohesive team, this role has lots of opportunity – you’ll be doing dispatching for flatbeds and vans across Canada and the US, both short and long haul.A Dispatcher is required to communicate with drivers to assist with problem resolution while on route. Furthermore, handling incoming service orders, directing drivers, and resolving service issues. Interacting with customers, including customer service, sales, and operational staff.
Job Duties:
- Providing reliable support and assistance to drivers
- Knowledge of the market rates and ability to negotiate both in Flat bed and Dry Van
- Knowledge of LTL and TL
- Entering data accurately and in a timely manner to build and close daily loads
- Effectively processing and distributing daily border paperwork to drivers
- Negotiating with US and Canadian Transportation providers on rates
- Supporting all customer service needs of customers to meet or exceed their expectations
- Processing requests for quotes and following up to secure load
- Reviewing dispatch board constantly to ensure trips are departing, arriving, and running on schedule
- Arranging appointments and scheduling for loads
- Collaborating and assisting other Team members if needed
- On call paid rotation required
Requirements:
- 3-5 Years experience within Transportation Industry or similar role required
- Knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act
- Knowledge of Flat Bed & Dry Van
- Proficient in transportation management software and technology tools.
- Must have at least 3 years of USA trucking experience
- Must have experience with the following: Load Link, DAT, Dispatch Software (ACE, ACI, CTPAT)
- Understanding of Canada/US Customs requirements
- Knowledge in HOS of service for both US and Canada
- Previous experience using Transportation/Logistics systems preferred
- Ability to multitask and work in a team environment
- Strong computer skills and experience using MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook etc)
- Excellent time management, organizational and planning skills
