We are currently recruiting a Cook/Assistant Educator to join our Team in Alliston at the following location: St. Cecilia CS.
This is a dual position of Cook and Assistant Educator.
Starting Pay: Assistant $19.61 - $22.41/hour plus Wage Enhancement Grant ($2.00/hr)
Cook: $19.10-$21.83/hour plus full-time benefit package (including dental, health and travel insurance), 10 paid personal days plus paid vacation time.
Position Type: Full-time (35hours/week)

POSITION SUMMARY
To ensure operational and curriculum requirements are met in compliance with all Ministry and organizational guidelines. To ensure the delivery of a developmentally appropriate, play based program by applying specialized skills and knowledge related to early childhood education.To effectively collaborate and communicate with other employees, families and outside agencies in an effort to properly support the needs of individual children. The cook/housekeeper is responsible for all duties relating to the purchasing, preparation and serving of all snacks and meals.
The cook/housekeeper is responsible for general cleaning, maintenance and housekeeping. The position includes administration tasks such as daily logs and records.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE- A recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Health assessment and up-to-date record of immunization as outlined by legislation.
- Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).
- Food handler certification.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Experience in food preparation and serving.
- Ability to operate standard kitchen appliances and laundry equipment.
- Have the physical stamina and ability to kneel, bend, lift and stand for extended periods.
- Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation.
- Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm, professional manner.
- Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, coworkers and other professionals.
- Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
- Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark.
- Plans, prepares and delivers wholesome and nutritious foods according to set standards and regulations.
- Follows a set menu while adhering to allergy/dietary restrictions of children.
- Responsible for ordering/purchasing of food and supplies while respecting set budgets. Shopping at local stores may be required.
- Maintains centre inventory, ensures freshness and minimizes waste.
- Applies knowledge of public health requirements relating to food preparation, storage, dishwashing and general cleaning/disinfecting practices.
