CUPE 1571 Permanent Permanent Maintenance Worker - Electrician
Major Responsibilities: Troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical systems including service and distribution, power and lighting and other electrical systems found within School Board buildings Maintaining all electrical equipment, including electrical components of HVAC systems Troubleshoot, repair and maintain fire alarm systems including conventional and addressable systems Performing preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and keep maintenance records Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures, switches, light bulbs, ballasts, motors, starters, electric heaters, and HVAC equipment Qualifications and Experience: Grade 12 Diploma Current provincial Certificate of Qualifications as an Electrician Canadian Fire Alarm Association certification Minimum five years’ experience performing installations, maintenance and repairs on commercial/industrial electrical and HVAC systems Class “G” Ontario Drivers License in good standing.
A driving abstract will be required Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade Skills and Competencies: Strong interpersonal and oral communications skills Physically capable of performing all duties of the trade Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and the following training: W.H.M.I.S , ARC flash, electrical safety, elevated work platforms, ladders, fall arrest, confined space, etc.Good computer skills and experience with building automation and control systems The selection of the successful applicants(s) will be made in accordance with Article 12 of the C.U.P.E. 1571 collective agreement.
