Editor/Paginator (Part-Time)
Requirements
Pagemasters North America (PMNA) is seeking a part-time editor/paginator who can work in a fast-paced news environment. This position can be remote anywhere within Canada, and remote or hybrid from Toronto or Calgary. The position would involve working three to four shifts a week, including Fridays and Sundays (there are no Saturday shifts).
As the successful candidate you have:
- Solid copy editing, page design and headline-writing skills
- Experience editing, laying out/designing and proofing newspaper pages for a variety of sections, from business to general news and entertainment
- Strong news judgment
- The ability to get the details right while meeting deadlines
- Superior customer service orientation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A background in journalism
You are able to:
- Respond quickly to breaking news and multi-task under tight deadline pressure with speed, accuracy and clarity
- Craft strong and accurate headlines and display copy
- Learn quickly and apply client's style rules and preferences
- Work well independently and also as part of a team
- Be flexible and adapt to changing client standards/needs
- Work flexible hours, including weekend and evening shifts
