We are currently seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Public Health nursing team. In collaboration with the Registered Nurse team lead, this LPN role involves the provision of immunizations in schools, influenza, and other mass immunization programs.
A comprehensive orientation to the AHS immunization program will be provided. To be successful you will be self-motivated, organized with excellent time management skills, and have strong communication skills both written and oral. You will demonstrate critical thinking skills within scope of practice, including clinical judgement, problem solving skills, and strong decision-making ability.
You will have an established ability to work independently, as well as positively, effectively, and cooperatively within an interdisciplinary team. Utilizing patient and family centered care, you will be able to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads and work conditions.
Reporting to the Area Manager and as a member of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care and practices to full scope as defined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures.
You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Must have successfully completed the Immunization Competency as outlined by the CLPNA’s Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses, 5th Edition (2020). Access to a vehicle in good repair for work-related travel.

Must be able to do chest compressions and be able to lift 15kg. Experience working in Public Health or Home Care. Minimum of two years current nursing experience with one year in a community-based setting preferred. One (1) years’ experience with electronic charting (i.e Meditech/Connect Care). Successfully completed the CLPNA Clinical Competency in Public Health and Clinic Nursing (R-3).
