Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer, AWS Talent Acquisition Data Analytics (TADA) - Vancouver

The position is based in Vancouver, Canada.
The Talent Acquisition Data Analytics (TADA) team is looking for a Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer to drive our analytical revolution in the Talent Acquisition (TA) space. You get the opportunity to work on a ground up rebuild of our analytical capabilities, from data ingress, to complex business transformations to end user reporting and beyond.

In this role, you will invent and build on behalf of candidates, experiment and test new ideas, evangelize successes, and drive consistency.

In this role, you will be an independent Business Intelligence Engineer who can source data, cleanse, analyze, refine, enrich, model, present, automate and document our business data pipelines. You will always be on the lookout for ways to optimize the information flow process, stay on top of latest trends in data warehousing and be able to coordinate and work on multiple, related projects.

Additionally, you will architect reporting and drive insights into our recruiting efforts and programs. This will include owning data analytics projects from beginning to end, building reports, compiling metrics, and owning ad hoc and trend analysis.

You will utilize business intelligence tools to analyze data and drive key recommendations. You will work with Talent Acquisition leadership to achieve business objectives and communicate insights to key stakeholders. Your analyses will contribute deeply to the development of our strategy and drive impact against our hiring objectives.

Finally, you will collaborate with subject matter experts across Amazon to work through complex problems and to create unified scalable reporting solutions at an enterprise-wide level. You will have the opportunity to partner with the central HR Information Systems teams as an influencer on their next generation road map.

Key job responsibilities
  • Collaborate with recruiting operations, data scientists, and business leaders to define business processes and provide analytical support
  • Leverage code to analyze complex datasets and design, develop and evaluate data transformations to solve specific business problems
  • Build scalable, efficient, and automated data processes to facilitate customer-facing reporting
  • Automate TA processes to streamline business operations
  • Communicate verbally or in writing to business customers / leadership for sharing insights and recommendations
  • Build dashboards and reports for both recruiting leaders and the businesses they support
  • Perform complex data analysis across multiple systems to support both scheduled and ad-hoc reporting requests
  • Mine key performance indicators to discover root causes
  • Analyze business outcome data in order to identify relationships and trends; incorporate data visualization and statistical analyses

  • 6+ years of SQL experience
  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Education in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, or related technical field- Experience with AWS technologies
  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
  • Strong business acumen
  • Proven ability to use hard data to back up assumptions
  • Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical customers
  • Proven ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • A history of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done

The base salary for this position ranges from $97,400/year up to $162,600/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
