At RBC we are searching for a dynamic Senior Program Manager to join our team. You will be at the forefront of the strategic initiatives that will shape Banking's future.
As a representative of the Value Office, you will be a member of the largest PMO in RBC and part of a collaborative team that is a catalyst for delivering transformation initiatives, accelerating value creation, and infusing Agile ways of working that drive continuous improvement.We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive culture where your contributions make an impact. You will work with a diverse set of stakeholders and senior leaders and will be at the forefront of strategy execution with teams that deliver some of RBC’s most important strategic initiatives.
As a Senior Program Manager, you will be responsible for delivering some of RBC’S most complex initiatives, ensuring alignment with platform goals and strategic objectives. You will develop program roadmaps and comprehensive plans while coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality outcomes through engagement with key stakeholders to define program scope, establish priorities, and maintain open communication.You will implement risk management strategies and foster a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will drive business agility with a continuous improvement mindset and routines that support value delivery, analyzing program performance metrics and integrating lessons learned into future planning.
What will you do?- Leadership: Clearly define roles and responsibilities within the team, ensuring alignment on initiative goals and expectations. Contributes towards high levels of engagement by focusing on team effectiveness, promoting a safe to speak up environment and providing recognition of team and individual achievements. Lead change management activities with key partners and ensure robust change plans are in place and communicated.
- Strategic Delivery: Collaborate with stakeholders, to develop and embed short- and long-term objectives and key results that align with business strategy. Develop and initiate program structure with a fit for purpose approach that balances value with delivery frameworks. Create a path through ambiguity and quickly influence the team to focus effort on work with the most value.
- Business Agility: Lead routines and utilize tools that promote transparency, collaboration, and roadblock removal, ensuring a focus on value. Encourage the team to be self-organized and cross-functional, fostering a collaborative and productive environment. Track program performance and velocity, facilitating process improvements based on data-drive insights.
- Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Identify and prioritize stakeholder requirements, ensuring effective onboarding and communication of strategic direction. Build trust through reliability and transparency, facilitating negotiations and managing conflict resolution. Establish, develop, and maintain strong relationships with RBC partners.
- Planning & Schedule Management: Enable horizon planning and develop plans and roadmaps, revisiting regularly as priorities change. Collaborate with stakeholders to define initiative goals and scope, breaking down work into manageable pieces. Maintain accurate estimation of initiative timelines, costs, and resources, ensuring that Planview, RBC’s project finance database, reflects up-to-date information.
- Continuous Improvement: Advocate for consistent feedback from the team to generate ideas and simplify processes. Champion disruptive thinking and implement continuous improvement frameworks to optimize processes.
- Communication & Facilitation: Deliver clear and tailored communications to stakeholders and team members. Facilitate program meetings for executives and team members, ensuring inclusivity and relevance while leveraging appropriate communication tools to enhance engagement and clarity.
- Risk & Issue Management: Anticipate potential risks and issues by conducting regular risk assessments and engaging stakeholders proactively. Develop and implement effective mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize disruptions. Maintain clear communication with stakeholders on risk and issue status.
- Initiative Delivery Acumen, Tools, and Processes: Lead the team in the use and adoption of key enterprise tools and technology (Jira, Confluence, Planview, Mural) to support initiative delivery. Understands, educates, and applies RBC Enterprise Project Management policy, standards, frameworks, and artifacts.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- At least 5-7 years of experience as a proven leader driving large and complex cross-functional program delivery, leading change, team collaboration, transparency, and alignment on goals and expectations.
- Demonstrated agile delivery experience, with the knowledge and ability influence ways of working, set up scaled agile delivery squads and establish effective routines.
- Experienced with measuring initiative value and benefits by establishing and monitoring program objectives and key results to align with business goals, breaking work down into manageable deliverables.
- Advanced stakeholder and relationship management skills, with a focus on building partner relationships and influencing outcomes with senior leaders.
- Advanced communication and facilitation skills with experience tailoring messages to diverse audiences, delivering presentations and facilitating inclusive discussions for senior-level audiences.
- Advanced planning and scheduling expertise, with experience in building and maintaining detailed large and integrated program schedules, roadmaps, and timelines.
- Financial program management experience in budget management, financial forecasting, cost-benefit analysis and vendor invoicing.
- Advanced understanding and experience with risk and issue management frameworks, including the ability to conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and maintain transparency in reporting.
Nice to have:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration (BBA/MBA)
- Experience in managing transformational business and technology programs at a large financial services company.
- Professional Certifications including PMP/PGMP, CSM/ACSM, SAFE
