Solo Cable Solutions Inc., is currently seeking a skilled 310T Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our growing operations in the Brantford area for a permanent, full-time position.
  • Work focused in Southwestern Ontario – may extend to 200 kilometers

Responsibilities:

  • Review work orders and discuss necessary repairs with the Division Manager.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive and truck systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups.
  • Advise field staff, managers, and outside vendors on work performed, vehicle condition, and future repair needs.
  • Complete reports documenting problems, repairs, and maintenance performed.
  • Maintain shop inventory and ensure adequate supplies are ordered.
  • Supervise and train junior staff and apprentices as required.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations in all repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with field work and support other teams during outages or emergencies when necessary.
  • Operate various machinery and equipment, including vibratory plow equipment, excavators, and skid steers.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as digging, lifting, and carrying heavy equipment.
  • Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance and manage time effectively.

Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary school and a vocational program or training courses in automotive technology.
  • Completion of a four-year automotive service technician apprenticeship or equivalent work experience.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License. (DZ/AZ would be an asset)
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • Criminal Background Check.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and automotive repair equipment.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment and truck systems.
  • Red Seal Endorsement (preferred).
  • Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment in all weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work overtime.
  • Must provide your own steel-toed safety boots and work pants.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Language: fluent in English.

Additional Requirements:

  • Attention to detail with the ability to prioritize safety.
  • Strong numeracy and math skills including understanding measurements.
  • Ability to understand the use and capabilities of the equipment, programs, and tools used in the automotive industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret vehicle manuals, diagnostic reports, and other technical documents.
  • Motivated to provide a positive working environment for all employees.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must adhere to all company-specific policies and regulations.
