Responsibilities:

  • Manage technical projects from start to finish, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Design and develop products and processes that meet specified objectives, creating detailed calculations and layouts to support final design drawings.
  • Maintain and update existing product designs, identifying opportunities for improvements or cost reductions.
  • Develop and manage bills of materials and maintain design files, including specifications, drawings, and related documentation.
  • Review and approve the work of other technical team members under the guidance of the Product Engineering Manager.
  • Provide technical support to customers, suppliers, and internal departments as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng).
  • Over 10 years of progressive experience in engineering design and team leadership, with a focus on precise engineering solutions and high-quality production standards.
  • Proven expertise in mechanical design, materials properties and selection, and stress analysis, particularly in Power Transmission & Distribution line hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical projects from initial concept to full production.
  • Skilled in interpreting technical specifications, industry standards, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Proficient in creating accurate and detailed assembly drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks, following established drafting standards.
  • Knowledgeable in various manufacturing processes, including closed die forging, upsetting, stamping, machining, welding, heat treatment, galvanizing, and other finishing techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical testing equipment, testing methodologies, and a strong understanding of ISO9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience in preparing cost estimates for manufactured products and assessing product applications for fit, form, function, and safety.
  • Proven ability to collaborate within a technical team while providing mentorship to junior team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively.
  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
