Customs Advisor
Adecco is currently seeking a Customs Advisor to join our client’s team based in Calgary, AB. This is a 6-month contract position in the Oil & Gas industry, and the ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding the organization through pre- and post-trade activities, ensuring compliance with import/export regulations, and providing expertise in mitigating risks within customs and trade compliance.

- Shifts: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance on pre- and post-trade activities and expectations. Liaise with logistics teams and business units to advise on commercial documents/content required for customs clearance.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, conduct detailed risk assessments on customs operations, and drive continuous improvement of corporate customs and trade compliance procedures.
- Review commercial contracts and agreements, providing recommendations regarding import and export terms.
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, monitor changes affecting the organization, and contribute to enhancing the corporate customs control framework.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to educate them on customs matters, while reinforcing compliance expectations.
- Contribute to data streamlining, analytics, and process refinement within the customs team.
- Stay updated on changes in import/export regulations and industry trends, offering proactive strategies to manage risks.
Requirements:
- Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs and international trade, preferably in the Oil & Gas sector or at a customs brokerage firm supporting the Oil & Gas industry.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Canada/U.S. Customs laws, import/export procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience in data analytics. Data science experience is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
