Your role and responsibilities

The ABB Installation Products division, formerly Thomas & Betts, is a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of products used to manage the connection, protection, and distribution of electrical energy in industrial, construction, and utility applications.

With a product range of over 200,000 items under more than 35 premium brands, the offerings of the ABB Installation Products division are available wherever electricity is used.

The Manufacturing Engineering Internship takes place at the Iberville plant. The intern’s main responsibility is to manage projects related to process improvement, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Manage various improvement projects within our production operations.
  • Plan, schedule, and follow up with involved stakeholders and manage change with these individuals.
  • As needed, support the Quality or HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) team in addressing production-related issues.
  • Align with ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, meaning taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the company.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor’s studies in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in project management and in optimizing operational processes using Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Strong computer skills (Office, MRP systems, AutoCAD; VBA programming is an asset).
  • Autonomy and initiative in managing projects and priorities according to targeted objectives, with strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset and leadership qualities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; bilingualism is essential (French and English, spoken and written). French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
