GHGSat offers greenhouse gas detection, measurement, and monitoring services to industrial and government customers around the world. The company uses its own satellites and aircraft sensors, combined with third-party data, to help industrial emitters better understand, control, and reduce their emissions.
We are seeking a Director of IT to join our organization. Reporting to the Vice President of Software, this position will oversee the IT team responsible for helpdesk, network management, cybersecurity compliance, and overall IT infrastructure.This is a hands-on leadership role that combines operational IT with strategy and platform/infrastructure. You’ll work closely with software, security, and ops teams to keep our systems running, secure, and ready to scale with us.
Responsibilities:
- Security & Compliance: Lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of robust cybersecurity policies and practices to protect the company’s satellite and SaaS infrastructure.
- IT Support & Internal Operations: Oversee the IT helpdesk team, ensuring timely and effective support for internal users.
- Infrastructure & Platform Support: Manage internal and cloud infrastructure across AWS, office networks, and remote work systems. Work directly with software, science, operations and data teams to scope, support and scale infrastructure needs.
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six IT professionals across cybersecurity, helpdesk, and infrastructure functions.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT management roles, including cybersecurity, networking, and helpdesk operations.
- Proven experience with cybersecurity certification and maintaining compliance with cybersecurity standards.
- Experience managing, maintaining and building SaaS tools and cloud infrastructure (AWS and Azure preferred).
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with at least 3-5 years managing a similar team.
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, including SOC2 or ISO 27001.
- Knowledge of networking.
- Experience managing physical servers and systems in house or in a data center, and architecting strategic migrations between the two
- Familiarity with helpdesk tools and ticketing systems (e.g., ZenDesk, Fresh Service).
- Must be able to obtain Canadian government security clearance.
