Job Overview:
The Transportation Planner/Dispatch Coordinator based in Edmonton and reporting to the Director of Equipment & Logistics, will be responsible for planning and arranging the transportation of heavy construction equipment both provincially and federally.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, arrange, coordinate and dispatch heavy construction equipment within a fast-paced environment.
• Permitting loads both provincially and federally.
• Obtain quotations from multiple vendors.
• Document and track equipment moves.
• Preparation of mobilization and demobilization quotes for estimating and operations.
• Drive performance by continually meeting KPI’s.
• Implement operational policies and procedures.
• Handle all correspondence and negotiations with suppliers.
• Coordinate all required work by vendors.
• Develop, implement, and monitor and maintain strategies that increase the efficiency of equipment movement.
• Monitor costs and stay within allocated budgets.
• Update leadership of trucking actions regularly.
• Work with field operations management to source the most feasible options for the transportation of replacement equipment.
• Collaborate with internal departments to identify and close operational gaps.
Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred
• At least 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience planning and dispatching in a heavy haul environment.
• Strong knowledge of federal and provincial permit regulations
• Strong knowledge of federal hours of service and transportation compliance
Skills:
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Proficient in Microsoft office suite.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure, meeting stringent deadlines.
