About Our Client
Our client in a well established General Contractor based out of Hamilton. They specialise in Institutional, Commercial and Industrial interior renovations and retro-fit outs projects.
Job Description
Senior Estimators Main Duties and Responsibilities include:
• Study plans and specifications clarifying location and document discrepancies
• Ability to provide input on profit margins and fees
• Participate in project development activities including scope definition and clarification, preconstruction planning, control estimate development and delivery
• Provide preconstruction services including preparing the preliminary budgets.
• Confirm if there is a site visit and arrange attendance.
• Solicit bidders, prepare a sub-trade request list for distribution, and note special trades to be personally called.
• Listing of special materials and calling for prices.
• Ability to attend site visits, take pictures, notes, and interacting with owner / consultant.
• Ability to build a preliminary tender schedule based on the major and long delivery dates and review with our construction department.
• Assist in negotiating and the awarding of certain contracts.

The Successful Applicant
• Someone with a strong network in the area of trades and clients in Southern Ontario
• 8+ years of experience in a local estimating capacity
• Experience with general contractors in ICI renovations/retro-fit projects
• Post-secondary diploma in a construction related discipline such as engineering technology
• Ability to be client-facing and increase project pipeline
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Lump Sum, management and conceptual estimating
