The Safety Specialist schedule is working two weeks in, two weeks out, 11 hour days. The duties and responsibilities for this role are:

 •  Ensuring construction activities comply with safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) requirements and monitors daily activities to identify hazardous conditions and implementation of safe work procedures
 •  Working closely with construction management team (CMT) and contractors
 •  Ensuring all safety, health and environmental procedures and work instructions are followed
 •  Conducting workplace inspections with CMT, focusing on behavioural observations
 •  Reviewing field level risk assessments (FLRAs) and daily contact cards for quality adherence
 •  May conduct and monitor SHEQ related training for construction management team (CMT) personnel and contractors and assess qualifications of construction contractor personnel
 •  Participating in job hazard assessments, safety meetings, toolbox meetings, constructability reviews, project kick-off meetings, upon request
 •  Conducting daily and weekly job site inspections as per procedure
 •  Identifying and reviewing various health and safety concerns specific to the work site
 •  Investigating injuries, accidents and near misses as per site corrective action processes
 •  Ensuring timely notification occurs of significant events
 •  Monitors quality of incident investigations and ensures effective and appropriate corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner

Requirements
 •  5 or more years of experience in a similar role
 •  Must have CSO designation
 •  Valid First Aid is considered an asset
