Morrison Hershfield's Transportation Division provides planning, design and construction administration services for roadway, highway, transit / rail, bridge and related projects.
We are currently seeking a Junior Inspector to conduct field work to complement our transportation team. The Junior Inspector will play a lead role in the delivery of assignments primarily for public sector clients.
Due to expanding business opportunities in Ontario and elsewhere within the company, this position offers growth in the areas of technical / professional development and project management.
Responsibilities :
• Carries out inspection activities to ensure conformance
• Conducts site surveys, obtaining relevant information, equipment and materials
• Searches for physical survey evidence (building ties, monuments, fences, etc.) and determines whether or not existing survey evidence suffices
• Obtains additional survey evidence as necessary and determines when enough information has been obtained
• Analyzes situations or data from which answers are easily obtained using standard procedure and practice
• Assists to compile field data in report form for review of project designer
Qualifications :
• A post secondary diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician or equivalent
• Designation as determined by OACETT as a Road Construction Junior Inspector (rcji) Technology / Technician is an asset
• Previous engineering / construction experience is an asset
• Prior experience working on MTO projects or municipal infrastructure projects
• Either registration as a as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. or Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with PEO
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Able to work on weekends, nights, shift work, additional hours as required
• Proficiency with MS Office
• A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle
• Able to travel and work in the Greater Toronto and surrounding area
