Established in 1990 as the first statutorily-based independent prosecution service in Canada, the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service (PPS) operates under the jurisdiction of the Attorney General of Nova Scotia. The Director of Public Prosecutions oversees all prosecutions within this jurisdiction, while Crown Attorneys, reporting to the Director, conduct prosecutions independently of the Attorney General.
