Finance Shared Services is a dynamic group that provides enterprise-wide finance services such as financial reconciliations, statutory transfer pricing, fixed assets, journal entries, accounts payables and settlements. It is a great team to be a part of to gain an enterprise perspective!This role is a key people manager role within the Global Reconciliation Services team, which manages reconciliation services for multiple platforms of the bank ie) PB&CB, Insurance and many others. It is a fast paced and dynamic environment requiring individuals who can respond positively to change management, are adaptable, effectively manage issues/risks and operate efficiently within a given cyclical framework, prioritizing activities, adjusting normal schedules to deliver outcomes.
The Senior Manager, Reconciliation Controller role is responsible for the seamless execution of all reconciliation related activities for an assigned portfolio of GL Reconciliation and Attestation activities. It provides clear direction relative to the identification of process and efficiency improvements, problem resolution and the integration/implementation of new initiatives and activities.The role ensures that all SLAs and policies relative to reconciliations are being consistently adhered to across the team. This position is responsible for enhancing relationships with business partners and clients, enriching service offerings through continuous improvement, reporting processes, and enabling team performance.
What will you do?- Management and oversight of a team of 30 FTE.
- Develop and implement leadership routines to ensure high quality service to all internal stakeholders, including proactive issue identification and resolution within a given timeframe
- Develop and reinforce a continuous improvement mindset in the team through effective coaching and development routines focused on efficiency and effectiveness enhancements
- Provides guidance to team and ensures adherence to all relevant policies such as Enterprise General Ledger Attestation Policy, RBC Enterprise Privacy Risk Management Policy, SLAs and GRS operational controls
- Acts as the functional bridge between Platform Financial Control teams and Global Reconciliation Services by providing insightful summaries of monthly results, identifying opportunities for onboarding of additional work and working together on initiatives impacting reconciliations
- Develop and implement open and clear lines of communication with our teams and business partners, including the regular updates, check-ins and progress reports
- Takes ownership of escalated service issues ensuring resolution at source and reinforces with the team to complete root cause analysis and mitigate gaps
- Ensure appropriate tracking, measurements, reporting and evaluation processes are firmly established to effectively monitor team performance
- Partner with Platform Finance Control teams or other business partners and advise on structuring reconciliation processes around new lines of business and the impact to existing reconciliations
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- 5+ years of relevant experience, post-secondary education in Business or equivalent
- Experience in managing financial processes: reconciliations and investigation.
- People management experience
- Highly developed communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- High level of initiative and motivation, strong problem management skills, change management minded
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with driving operational efficiency
- Solid knowledge of all Regulatory and Compliance rules as follows; Internal Audit reviews, SOX
- Accounting designation (CPA / CA / CMA / CGA)
