Position:

Retail Distribution at Mackenzie Investments is currently accepting applications for the position of Director, National Sales Initiatives. Reporting to the AVP, Sales Enablement, the Director, National Sales Initiatives will be responsible for leading strategic business development initiatives aimed at enhancing Mackenzie’s presence in front of Retail advisors.

This role will be responsible for developing and executing against Retail’s advisor-facing content strategy through virtual and in-person conference events to broaden our advisor coverage and increase sales to new and existing advisors.

The Director will be accountable for collaborating with Retail Leadership, the Sales Team, Investment Management, Product and Marketing to deliver content that positions Mackenzie as a thought leader and asset manager of choice for Retail advisors.

This role will work closely with the Sales Effectiveness team within Sales Enablement to execute against the event content strategy.

As a valued member of the Retail Distribution team, your core responsibilities will include:

Event Content Development:

  • Drawing on past initiatives and ROI analysis, and in conjunction with Retail Leadership, develop Retail Distribution’s advisor facing event strategy to support the achievement of business objectives and priorities. This includes determining the portfolio managers and mandates to feature across virtual and/or in-person webinars.
  • Leveraging industry experience, influence and collaborate with Product and Marketing teams to determine key messages for advisor facing content.
  • Crafting event narratives aligned to Mackenzie’s business needs by leading script development for virtual and in-person events. This includes creating opening remarks, closing calls to action, establishing the questions posed to portfolio managers and providing guidance to direct the response.
  • Maintain a critical eye on advisor-facing content to continuously improve the advisor experience and enhance the efficacy of Mackenzie’s events.
  • Work closely with Sales Effectiveness team to execute event content strategy, acting as a sales lead and providing content related decisions on behalf of the Retail Leadership team.
  • Prepare and present proposals to sales leaders to solicit feedback and obtain buy-in on content plans.
  • Support Senior Analyst, Sales Enablement in a people leadership capacity.

National Speaker:

  • Primary host for all English and French advisor-facing events.
  • Represent Mackenzie across Canada as the host for all in-person advisor-facing events, requiring travel at concentrated periods throughout the year.
  • Host weekly webinar series with Mackenzie portfolio managers, thought leaders and our strategic partners.

Event Effectiveness:

  • Leverage a consultative approach to problem solving, and ensuring all partners and stakeholders have clear understanding of expectations and outcomes for advisor facing events.
  • Keep abreast of changing market environment and proactively identify opportunities to enhance Mackenzie’s event strategy and approach to content.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales Effectiveness and Retail Leadership to enhance the impact of Mackenzie’s post event follow up. This includes developing highlight reels or event summaries, leverage new and existing technologies to improve the post-event advisor experience.

The following qualifications are required of the successful candidate:

  • A minimum of 10 years relevant experience and passion for markets
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets and asset management business
  • Experience in building strong relationships with a variety of partners and senior leaders.
  • Highly collaborative with excellent interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning and communication skills.
  • Innovative problem-solving abilities
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Effective management of projects and timelines
  • Bilingual
