The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a Virtual Life Advisor to join our Insurance team.

Reporting to the SVP, Insurance and Advanced Planning, the Virtual Life Advisor is responsible for client consultation for the sale of insurance products. The Virtual Life Advisor will work with partners in the program to help identify clients who may be suitable for engagement, and risk management planning.

If the client wants to take action, then the Virtual Life Advisor will do the application, ensure underwriting requirements are met, and then place the insurance with the client after issued. All of the activities of the Virtual Life Advisor will be conducted in a virtual environment, and the Virtual Life Advisor must be very comfortable with technology and operating in a non face to face environment.

What your day looks like:

  • Recognize prospecting opportunities for new clients with partner advisors with clients
  • Communicate with clients directly through phone calls, emails and video conferences to conduct a needs analysis and make proposals
  • Ensure application to life insurance carriers is fulsome and complete, and monitors progress before policy is issued
  • Meet all regulatory requirements in day-to-day activities ensuring compliance through the insurance agency in each province where licensed
  • Rigorous standards of service with all stakeholders
  • Keeping track of referrals from partner staff, and progress of the file for reporting purposes
  • Maintain strong client relationships through regular contact and providing timely, value-added information, advice and recommendations by meeting their insurance needs and troubleshooting any issues that may arise
  • Uses financial planning tools and data to develop plans and recommendations to meet the clients’ investing/financial planning goals and collaborates with other specialists to ensure clients/members are receiving comprehensive financial planning
  • Meets all regulatory requirements in day-to-day activities ensuring compliance with all FW audit/risk management policies and procedures, including applicable external agency/vendor/government regulatory requirements and standards
  • Maintains expert level knowledge of estate planning, power of attorney, wills, family trusts, insurance, and tax, to discuss with clients and engage or refer them to the appropriate specialists
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of all relevant issues of compliance and the relevant policies and procedures of regulatory and government agencies and participates in branch audits as required

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Economics
  • Life Insurance and Accident & Sickness Insurance licenses
  • 3-5 years of experience in the financial services industry selling life insurance, living benefits and other insurance products
  • Meet and exceeded sales and service goals
  • Certified Financial Planner License is an asset
  • Technology comfortable
  • Strong customer service focus and positive attitude
  • Ability to communicate in a virtual environment by telephone and video
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship skills to build trust with clients and colleagues
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Able to operate independently
  • Strong organizational, multitasking and time management skills
  • Proficient with planning tools, calculators and advanced experience with the MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive information with integrity
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $77,000 - $95,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
