Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Administrator, the Student Placement Coordinator is responsible for the onboarding, orientation and management of student placements in compliance with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations and LTC home-specific policies.To facilitate and manage student placements, the Student Placement Coordinator will act as the liaison between the Pioneer Ridge and educational institutions.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops new and/or maintains existing partnerships with colleges and universities for the successful placement of students at Pioneer Ridge.
- Plans and executes orientation to Pioneer Ridge, including, but not limited to, providing tours and introducing students to residents and team members.
- Promotes and recruits team members into a preceptor role.
- Coordinates the placement schedule and pairs students with preceptor team members in consultation with the Administrator or delegate.
- Coordinates the evaluation of the student placement program at Pioneer Ridge, including, but not limited to, preceptor and student feedback on the experience.
- Liaises with preceptors to ensure they have the knowledge and resources to support students.
- Identifies opportunities and methods to improve processes for a sustainable student placement program.
- In collaboration with Nursing administration, informs students of available employment opportunities at Pioneer Ridge, and participates in recruiting students to positions post-placement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- Secondary school graduation
- One year experience related to project coordination and/or management
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and current related software
- Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relations with private and public officials, superiors, subordinates, co-workers, residents, families, and the general public
- Ability to function and contribute as an effective team member and to work independently
- Ability to identify, understand, and meet/exceed the requirements of internal and external customers
- Strong project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer
- Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies
- Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
- Must have successfully undergone a “two step” tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment
- Prior to commencing employment, must undergo a successful Offence & Professional Misconduct Declaration Process
- Must successfully complete all mandatory training as required by the Corporation on an annual basis
- May be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
