What is the opportunity?

As Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, you will provide executive communications support to Capital Markets senior leaders in Canada, with a focus on Global Investment Banking, Global Corporate Banking, and the COO Group. As part of a global team, you will work closely with partners in Toronto, New York, London and APAC to deliver a coordinated communications approach that supports strategic priorities.

This includes leading internal communications and employee engagement activities for these businesses in Canada, providing support related to issues management, and developing and executing strategic media plans and tactics.

What will you do?
  • Lead in creating, developing, and executing strategic internal and external communications plans for RBC Capital Markets, focused on but not limited to the firm’s Global Investment Banking (GIB), Global Corporate Banking, and COO businesses in Canada, serving as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and aligning with business goals.
  • Enhance and protect the reputation of Capital Markets through innovative and differentiated employee communications and external communications (media).
  • Work closely with colleagues in Toronto, New York, London and APAC to ensure effective and coordinated communications.
  • Continuously increase RBC Capital Markets’ footprint in target top-tier, trade, digital, and broadcast media outlets. Maintaining and developing relevant media relationships.
  • Mitigate issues as they relate to our GIB, Corporate Banking, and COO platforms in Canada by developing communications strategies and statements (personnel, regulatory).
  • Run point on Canada GIB, Corporate Banking, and COO internal communications and announcements.
  • Contribute to the success of the overall goals of the Brand, Communications and Citizenship group.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • 6-8+ years of relevant corporate communications experience or related experience within the capital markets business and preferably media relations experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills and attention to detail
  • Resourceful, proactive and strategic
  • Ability to operate under intense pressure, and rapidly respond to urgent deadlines
  • Commitment to excellence and ability to meet high standards
