Senior Accountant

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant is responsible for a variety of corporate financial reporting and related tasks for Doman Building Materials Group Ltd., including research and application of international financial reporting standards (“IFRS”).

• Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements under IFRS along with supporting schedules
• Assist in analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and reporting on variances
• Conduct research and ensure proper application of new or revised IFRS standards
• Participate in completing month-end close under tight reporting deadlines
• Prepare quarterly and annual account reconciliations
• Participate in daily cash forecasting and annual budgeting processes
• Liaise with external and tax auditors
• Other projects as assigned

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• CPA with public accounting background
• Minimum four years of public accounting work experience required
• Industry experience is a strong asset
• Experience with corporate financial reporting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

• Ability to manage time efficiently, and work well under tight reporting deadlines
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from the Director of Finance
• Highly detail oriented and organized
• Strong verbal, written, and communications skills
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies

• University degree
• CPA designation

Benefits

• The typical hiring range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 annually. The base pay offered is based on geographical location and may vary depending on the applicant’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Similar positions located in other geographical locations may not necessarily receive the same salary range. The compensation information is an estimate and provided to meet with applicable provincial Pay Transparency legislation.
