What is the opportunity?
As an integral member of RBC’s Wealth Management Services, your role as a Financial Advisory Consultant is to work closely with a highly accredited group of tax professionals to provide specific tax, estate and financial planning information to advisors in a variety of sales forces within RBC.The right Consultant can contribute valuable perspectives, ideas, and options to help the advisors capitalize on opportunities and deliver value to High Net Worth (HNW) clients.
Please note this role could be based in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary or Montreal, it is a hybrid role mostly working remote with no regular travel required and little overtime. If you are seeking a technical tax job this could be a good opportunity for you.
What will you do?- To be a primary contact for RBC advisors and client-facing Wealth Management Services professionals for sound guidance on a broad range of technical tax, estate and financial planning ideas and strategies
- Effectively communicate expert knowledge around issues affecting HNW individuals and private business owners, such as:, investing through a holding company, use of trust structures, sale of a business, employee stock options, pension plans, joint accounts, estate planning etc.
- Research and write technical publications and articles, with the ability to simplify and communicate complex strategies to non-technical advisors and their HNW clients
- Research and comment on tax implications of public company mergers, spin-offs or restructuring transactions for unit holders
- Lead presentations on specific topics to advisors on a periodic basis
- Keep current with pertinent legislative changes
- Actively participate in strategic projects with internal business partners across the organization
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have- University degree supported by a professional designation (CPA, MTax or LL.B.)
- 7 years of related experience in taxation, ideally in owner-manager taxation, personal tax and/or wealth planning
- Written and oral fluency in English required
- The ability to work as part of an established, technically strong and closely knit team or work independently as needed
- Dedication and motivation to achieve high standards of client service, accuracy and professionalism in the performance of duties
- The ability to prioritize and organize multiple assignments to consistently meet deadlines
- Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills
- Presentation skills
- Financial planning designation: CFP, RFP, or IQPF is an asset
- CICA In Depth tax course or equivalent a strong asset
- US Planning knowledge would be a strong asset
- Cross border tax experience a strong asset
- Bilingual in French and English an asset
