London - Project Leader, Innovation

Job Summary
This position will primarily be involved in developing and launching new products, for Hamilton Kent’s plastic pipe market and other custom molded products. The successful individual will be the subject matter expert for all plastic pipe products and market and will be responsible for handling any activities related to new product development projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.This involves using a Stage-Gate (AIM) process to develop executable business plans and presenting them to senior leaders and executives.
Principal Responsibilities
Leading new product development projects by managing cross-functional teams comprised of team members from Product Design, Marketing, Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, and Finance, for each active project assigned by the Innovation Manager.- Maintain expert level of market, product and application knowledge for Hamilton Kent’s plastic pipe connector and other custom molded products.
- Develop and manage project scope and execution plans, ensuring critical path tasks are resourced appropriately and progress is being made
- Lead-cross functional teams - Build strong working relationships and reinforce how each team member has a unique role to play for projects to be successful and promote the innovation agenda
- Analyze job costing and material reports and review financial records to ensure projects are in line with the budget. Assist in quotation process and maintain communications with suppliers or contractors when applicable.
- Perform market research or voice of customer to identify market needs and requirements for new products.
- Provide direction and support to the project team as the subject matter expert
- Connect with cross-functional teams often, ensuring assigned project tasks are clear
- Build business cases, deliverable packages, and project status updates with input and recommendations from the cross-functional team and provide update to management
- Continuously look for creative efficiencies and solutions to overcome project roadblocks, whether they be technical, resource, or people related to positively impact project turnaround
Health, Safety and Environment Responsibilities:
- Ensure visitors, contractors and contracted employees follow all policies and procedures, and conduct themselves as employees of Hamilton Kent.
- Adhere to all pertinent federal, provincial, and local health and safety legislative requirements.
- Ensure workers work in compliance with corporate and site-specific safety rules and legislation.
- Report all accidents, regardless of how minor.
- Work in accordance with the occupational health and safety policy, and all site-specific health and safety requirements (employee handbook).
- Report all unsafe conditions to Director of Innovation.
- Wear all required safety equipment.
- Review and follow all health and safety procedures as laid out in the employee handbook.
Requirements
Education & Certificates- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from accredited University or College (in Civil / Mechanical / Industrial discipline or related field)
- Completion of, or working towards PMP certification is an asset
- 5 years of experience in a Project Management capacity leading cross-functional teams preferably
- 2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment with rubber or plastic or within the construction industry
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail; organized and able to balance multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong critical thinking skills displayed by the ability to find creative solutions to problems
- Ability to successfully navigate through uncertainty and make sound decisions when all facts may not be present
- Proven ability to build trust and relationships to help manage and lead through organizational change.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products such as Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, and Microsoft Teams
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Solidworks software are an asset
TRAVEL: Employee will be required to travel approximately ~10% of the time; Employee will need to visit other HK locations, customer sites, and third-party suppliers, and travel outside of Canada as their projects require
