Job Description

What is the opportunity?

At RBC, our culture is deeply supportive and rich in opportunity and rewards. You will help our clients thrive and our communities prosper, empowered by a spirit of shared purpose.

Whether it’s helping a client select their next credit card or buy their first home, as a subject matter expert within one of our centres of excellence, you will be doing work that matters, in an environment built on teamwork, service, responsibility, diversity, and integrity.

We believe that media is an investment, not a cost. And if orchestrated smartly across the full funnel, the right media-strategy can be a competitive advantage.

The Senior Manager, Media-Strategy & Optimization is an important member of the broader RBC Media Center-of-Excellence and responsible to turn insights originating from Marketing-Mix-Models, post-mortem campaign-reports and/or other 3rd party planning-resources into actionable optimization-decisions & strategic recommendations to our marketing- & agency-partners; ultimately, future-proofing RBC’s audience-centric channel-mix & media-investment, but also to improve effectiveness & efficiency of our full-funnel marketing-programs.

The successful candidate will show a deep level of knowledge of traditional & non-traditional media-channels and how they intersect within a consumer’s daily media-habits and preferences. The Senior Manager, Media-Strategy & Optimization is a creative yet analytical thinker, an experienced generalist in (diverse & brand-safe) media-supply-chains and understands the complexity of cross-channel media planning & buying.

  • Drive our evolution of campaign-metrics across our media-campaigns.
  • Develop insights relating to a consumer’s media-consumption, channel-habits, media-owners, ad-tech solutions, etc. to help and guide marketing-teams in their campaign-development.

Protecting Our Brand:

  • Actively support efforts to protect RBC from reputational risks within our paid-media activities, ranging from auditing our 3P brand-safety & ad-verification tools to assessing ad-standards, compliance, and risk regarding media-partners & ad-solutions.
  • Manage/monitor our SOV holistically in key media-channels to maintain competitiveness
  • Support the team in managing contractual relationship & MSAs with our media-& agency-partners.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • First and foremost, live and breathe the media landscape. Possess media market and industry knowledge –demonstrate an excellent understanding of media channels across all disciplines (online and offline) whilst being highly digital-media savvy.
  • Have a passion to question/challenge the Status Quo in Media and be enthusiastic to create a joint vision with other teams within a large-enterprise organizational structure.
  • Ideally a minimum of 5-7 years of experience as either a Senior Media-Buyer/Planner/Strategist or Connections-Planner.

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.
