Project Manager, PMO
OPPORTUNITY
This position is part of a newly formed Project Management Office (PMO) under the Corporate Services Group. Charged with implementing Project Management standards and leveraging these standards for project implementations, the PMO is seeking a Project Manager to deliver various Corporate Services and/or business unit initiatives.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this individual will be responsible for the successful scope definition, project schedule and work breakdown construction, execution, and documentation for all assigned projects. The nature of the projects will vary, and the incumbent must be able to apply PMBOK standards to ensure stakeholder alignment throughout the achievement of project goals.
The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with a proven track record of success in project management, including business-led initiatives and IT project delivery. They excel in building and maintaining positive, supportive relationships with project stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, manage and track assigned projects from initiation to implementation, as required:
- Work with project sponsor(s) to define and document project scope summary, and in turn be able to communicate the project vision and objectives to stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment.
- Develop project implementation plans and schedules in alignment with project sponsor expectations, outlining resource accountabilities.
- Facilitate effective project meetings with stakeholders and actively participate in project related meetings and discussions.
- Lead the project teams by facilitating problem solving discussions, drive resolution of risks, issues, and action items, and escalate when necessary.
- Report project status to all project stakeholders and management on a regular basis.
- Responsible for the successful (time, scope, budget) delivery and close out of assigned projects.
- Facilitate and document End User Testing when applicable, working with various stakeholders to receive sign off on an implementation.
- Work with vendors or third-party groups where applicable, advocating and negotiating on behalf of Fengate and the project sponsor.
- Demonstrate ability to problem solve and work through difficult conversations with project stakeholders and vendors to move projects forward.
Support the ongoing development of the PMO, and champion its value proposition to foster organic growth across the division, of project management standards and project delivery:
- Contribute to evolving the newly implemented project management tools, templates and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement or enhancement.
- Help guide the adoption of the PMO processes across the organization by demonstrating their value in project delivery, and when required, working closely with the functional owners to ensure project progress is maintained.
- Work closely with various stakeholder and departments to understand their business objectives.
Support the successful achievement of the PMO roadmap:
- Assist the Senior Project Manager and SVP, Internal Operations in aligning projects which may have dependencies and/or competing priorities.
- Contribute to any ad-hoc reporting, presentations, or discussions regarding the PMO roadmap.
- Keep abreast of other projects currently in-progress under the PMO’s purview, specifically noting any issues or risks which may impact the portfolio as a whole.
Requirements
KEY QUALIFICATIONS- PMP designation is required.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management, as the lead project manager throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- Proven ability in creating project implementation plans, developing schedules, managing resource capacity, and project reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects and facilitate stakeholder and project team collaboration to achieve quality deliverables.
- Expert understanding of waterfall and agile project management practices, knowledgeable of software development life cycle, and the ability to blend them together to fit the needs of individual projects and/or business objectives.
- Detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills who can remain calm under stressful situations.
- Ability to work through situations where project information may be ambiguous or not fully developed.
- Excellent communication, relationship management, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Smartsheet preferred.

LOCATION
The position will be based out of the Oakville office. Fengate offers a Work-Flex policy where employees are allowed to work remotely up to 3 days per week.
