Who we need
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Data & Operations, and working closely with internal teams and data privacy, we are hiring a Director, Data Engineering and Operations. As the new Director, Data Engineering and Operations, you will lead data governance and operational efficiency, managing the data operations domain.You will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing data products, integrations, and processes to ensure high-quality, reliable data is consistently available to support downstream applications and operations.
This is a hybrid role, working five days over a two-week period in the office.

In this role, you will:
- Ensure operational data excellence. You will ensure data is accurate and address and resolve issues promptly. You will implement comprehensive quality assurance processes to maintain operational data integrity. You will monitor systems to optimize performance and manage cost efficiencies. You will oversee the Scene+ data models and metadata management, ensuring alignment on catalogue standards, enterprise data models, and definitions. You will provide updates to stakeholders on proposed solutions, timelines, progress, and challenges.
- Enforce strategic data governance. You will establish and enforce data governance strategies, collaborating with legal teams as needed. You will work with the Privacy Office to establish policies, standards, and frameworks for data sharing, data access and permissions, data classification, data retention, data governance roles and responsibilities, and KPIs/metrics. You will evaluate and define the roadmap and tools for data governance capabilities, including data cataloging, metadata management, data quality, and data lineage. You will drive alignment across stakeholders on enterprise data models and definitions.
- Lead and develop a team. You will cultivate a collaborative and high-performing environment, providing coaching, fostering growth, and establishing an optimal team structure to maximize effectiveness. You will collaborate on architectural recommendations for data and analytics process improvements, ensuring cost efficiencies and effective operations.
- Manage technology. You will manage our analytics platforms, including AWS, Tableau Cloud, Snowflake, Matmillion Data Productivity Cloud, Salesforce Data Cloud, Salesforce Loyalty Management, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
You bring:
- The data expertise. You have experience in defining and implementing a data governance roadmap, operationalizing data governance capabilities, and establishing key policies and metrics. You possess in-depth knowledge of data governance principles, data documentation, and quality assurance. You have experience managing data operations in large data environments and overseeing the complete data lifecycle. You are well-versed in implementing LEAN/Six Sigma process improvements. You are knowledgeable about data regulations, privacy policies, CASL, PII/PCI compliance, and industry-specific standards. Familiarity with modern data platforms, data lakes, and machine learning tools is an asset.
- The technical skills. You excel in cross-functional collaboration, working closely with analytics, marketing, and engineering teams. You effectively troubleshoot data issues, implement solutions, and ensure the reliability of the data environment. You bring hands-on experience in data warehousing, CRM tools (especially in CDP environments), and managing big data platforms. You are skilled in recommending architectural improvements and operational optimizations. You have working knowledge of Snowflake, AWS, Matillion, Tableau, and Salesforce.
- The project management skills. You are experienced in leading large-scale data science and analytics projects. You develop and execute detailed project plans, allocate resources effectively, and ensure timely completion of objectives. You excel at managing stakeholder expectations, handling change requests, and maintaining clear communication. You set performance metrics to assess impact and adjust plans as necessary to ensure success.
- The leadership skills. You are an exceptional communicator, capable of adapting your delivery to diverse audiences. You build and nurture strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, serving as a trusted subject matter expert. You inspire collaboration, navigate challenges, and promote a positive and productive work culture. Your leadership fosters high-quality performance and encourages continuous growth within your team.
