Supervisor, Venue Operations
This role will oversee Venue Operations subdepartments such as Building Operators, Electricians, Carpenters, etc.
The Supervisor, Venue Operations is responsible for supervising all aspects of the Venue Operations department, supervising Venue Operations subdepartments such as Building Operators, Electricians, Carpenters, and coordinating trade-heavy work to maintain the aesthetics and functionality of the facilities.This role requires effective leadership and coordination with both internal departments and external contractors to maintain our Venues’ operations and quality standards.
- Coordinate and schedule maintenance activities such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywall & painting, and vertical transportation systems.
- Supervise and lead building operators in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems, ensuring all systems are functioning optimally.
- Supervise facility staff members and contract staff, providing leadership and ensuring efficient team operations.
- Maintain the aesthetics and surfaces within the facilities.
- Oversee fire life safety operations and maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with on-site tradespeople and management personnel.
- Lead the team by example, providing ongoing coaching, training, and motivation to staff members.
- Maintain ongoing communication and rapport with third-party contractors.
- Advocate for safe work practices and excellent customer service.
- Keep and maintain all necessary logs and documentation related to building operations.
- Liaise with suppliers as needed to facilitate maintenance and event operations.
- Facilitate event execution in a safe & professional manner.
- Manage the completion of work orders and preventative maintenance activities.
- Resolve operational issues promptly, ensuring accurate follow-up with management.
- Manage and schedule team labour effectively, maintaining high standards and meeting strict timelines.
- Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as requested.

- Possess Building Automation and HVAC training and have experience with mechanical and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of maintaining, and repairing plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Experience working within a unionized work environment.
- Experience or familiarity with multi-purpose facilities is an asset.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and Venue Management Software.
- Positive team spirit and professional attitude.
- Ability to see the big picture and strategize accordingly.
- Ability to lead by example and ensure team members stay on task.
- First Aid, CPR, Defibrillation, WHMIS and Pool Certificate an asset.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Both a team builder and teammate who can relate professionally to all levels.
- Proven to perform well under pressure; manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- An ongoing awareness and responsiveness to client satisfaction.
- Available to work evenings / overnights and weekends as required.
