Temporary (Canada Summer Jobs)
Location: Toronto, ONCompensation: $17.20/hr.

We're looking for a mission-driven Intern, Occupational Health & Safety who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.
Your Impact at CNIB- Provides general support to the Manager, Health & Safety to strengthen the safety culture at CNIB.
- Assists in facilitating organizational compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, regulations, and implementation of best practices.
- Participate in and support multiple JHSCs and designated safety representatives.
- Conduct research and develop resource guides as needed.
- Assist in tracking workplace incidents for reporting and statistical analysis.
- Research occupational safety information to support methods and equipment to minimize workplace hazards and improve employee well-being.
- Assist the Manager, Health & Safety when conducting ergonomic assessments as needed.
- Assist with safety inventories and organizing the Health & Safety Boards and other safety documents.
- Assist with incident investigations and workplace inspections.
- Supports and promotes mental health and wellbeing through education, resources, and initiatives.
Requirements
Who you are:
Education and Certifications- Currently enrolled in an Occupational Health and Safety program.
- First Aid, CPR, and Joint Health & Safety Committee Member Certification is an asset.
- Experience in Occupational Health in a similar role is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WCB, Employment Standards, Human Rights Code, Privacy Act, disability procedures, policies, and any other relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Windows Office, (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Sharepoint).
- Excellent research skills with the ability to collect and analyze data.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proven organizational skills, focus on prioritization, and ability to multi-task and manage claims and deadlines.
- Ability to work with private and confidential material.
- Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
- Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs. To be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs initiative, individuals must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
- Be a Canadian citizens, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible participants. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
