Drake Devonshire is a boutique hotel located in historic Wellington, Prince Edward County. We are looking for a guest-focused, hardworking, professional, flexible and positive individual who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty to take pride in the beauty and upkeep of our hotel rooms.

The Lead Housekeeper is responsible for the exceptional cleanliness of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house non-kitchen areas and managing laundry operations (external).

This position requires strong people management, communications, and hands-on housekeeping skills.

Responsibilities
  • To direct the activities of Housekeeping daily operation to maintain and improve high cleaning standard of guestrooms and public areas as well as courteous service to guest.
  • To train and monitor staff on daily housekeeping duties.
  • To assist team members with working schedule to meet peak and slow periods and maintain a close payroll control.
  • To work with the leadership team on preparation of annual uniform budget, annual Housekeeping FF&E and operating equipment budget.
  • To inspect vacant and occupied guestrooms to ensure the cleaning standard is kept.
  • To inspect the guestrooms floors, back of the house and public areas to ensure the cleaning are well maintained.
  • To maintain effective communication with Engineering for repairing and maintaining of guest rooms and ensure rooms are in good condition at all times.
  • To consult with Front Office regarding room blocking for special repairing or spring cleaning, return for sale at short length of time, and release checkout rooms to be sold.
  • To hold daily briefing with floor supervisors, to give information about daily expected VIP arrivals, guest complaints and special assignment etc.
  • To conduct a regular Housekeeping communication meeting to discuss feedback from guests and other staff, work on areas of improvement, communicate all the special instructions and happenings within the hotel, other than morning briefing.
  • To be responsible for guest room supplies and cleaning supplies when necessary.
  • To be responsible for room linen inventory and other room related items; maintain par levels and order stock as necessary.
  • To evaluate the performance of the department personnel.
  • Adhere to the hotel’s security and emergency policies and procedures.
  • To ensure that all team members have a complete understanding of and adhere to the hotel’s rules and regulations.
  • Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year previous experience in a Housekeeping operation as a supervisor or head housekeeper
  • Positive guest and associate relations skills
  • Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Must be proficient in hotel PMS system, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Fulfill a flexible schedule to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Possesses excellent customer service, organizational, communication and multi-tasking skills
