Maintenance Person - Full Time

Independently perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain Fairmont Waterfront’s facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and functional environment for our guests.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Director, Facilities
  • Consistently offer professional, engaging and friendly service.
  • Be Health & Safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Front line response to maintenance/service calls for guestrooms, public areas, and heart of house.
  • Minor equipment repairs, HVAC servicing and filter changes.
  • Bathroom repair and maintenance including replacement of bathroom fixtures, tiling, caulking and minor plumbing.
  • Pool water testing and chemical balancing as well as day to day maintenance of pool equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on guest rooms, public areas and heart of house areas, including inspection and testing of all items.
  • Assist guests with operation of hotel equipment e.g. televisions, Chromecast, HVAC system.
  • Active participation in hotel environmental and sustainability programs.
  • Daily building system checks when assigned.
  • Respond to emergency situations including floods, fire alarms, bomb threats or power failures.
  • Complete service records for contractor call-outs, daily system checks, pool and utility records
  • Other duties as assigned

Your experience and skills include:

  • 1 to 2 years maintenance experience in accommodation or similar industry.
  • Expert finishing skills required: painting, drywall, wood restoration/refinishing.
  • Experience in other areas of maintenance such as plumbing, tiling, wallpapering and carpentry.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly responsible and reliable, able to prioritize tasks and work safely with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent guest service skills with an eye for detail.
  • Team oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good command of the English language required.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Class 4 ticket an asset.
  • Pool certification an asset.
  • Experience in hospitality an asset.
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts including morning, evenings, weekends, overnights, overtime and statutory holidays
