Manages a Global Risk Monitoring/Reporting and Risk Operations team to develop and implement risk management reports, systems, and processes. Typically manages 2 or more specialized departments comprised of supervisors, managers, professionals, and/or large numbers of operational support employees.

What is the opportunity?
As Senior Manager of Operational and Regulatory Risk for RBC Insurance, you will be working with partners to achieve an optimal risk-reward balance that enables RBC Insurance leaders to attain their strategic objectives and prudently manage key operational and regulatory risks.You will be ensuring that Operational Risk Management programs and regulatory initiatives are implemented efficiently and effectively within Insurance. You will provide thought leadership in the areas of risk identification, risk assessment and control testing.
What will you do?- Provide operational risk and regulatory support and leadership to RBC Insurance businesses, to enhance their ability to monitor and manage risks effectively
- Lead regulatory initiatives, ensuring appropriate implementation within RBC Insurance
- Work with business and functional partners to proactively identify, measure and analyze operational and regulatory risks and to help risk owners identify effective mitigation strategies
- Lead operational risk assessment activities and provide expert feedback on the impact of business processes, products, major process improvement and transformational initiatives
- Prepare quarterly operational risk reports for senior management and for inclusion in the enterprise risk report
- As the 1st Line of Defense, implement and execute Operational Risk Management programs within RBC Insurance
- Lead the implementation, maintenance and administration of the control testing program
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have- 8+ years of relevant risk management and/or regulatory experience in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least one of: audit / risk management / process excellence expertise or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of insurance business / experience in a financial services organization
- A positive attitude and proven track record in learning new skills and technologies with the ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment
- Strong communication, critical thinking, negotiation, relationship management and project management skills
- Expert knowledge with operational processes
- Proven leadership experience at a senior management level, with a proven track record of building strong relationships across business functions
- Bilingual in French and English is an asset
- Professional qualification (CA / CPA / MBA or equivalent)
