As a representative of the Value Office, you will be a member of the largest PMO in RBC and part of a collaborative team that is a catalyst for delivering transformation initiatives, accelerating value creation, and infusing Agile ways of working that drive continuous improvement.We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive culture where your contributions make an impact. You will work with a diverse set of stakeholders and senior leaders and will be at the forefront of strategy execution with teams that deliver some of RBC’s most important strategic initiatives.
As a Senior Project Control Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of initiatives. You will leverage your advanced understanding and experience with program financial management, planning and scheduling management and delivery acumen, tools and processes to drive program success.
What will you do?- Monitor Project Financials: Act as the central point of control to monitor and track program financials, including funding amounts, contract and vendor invoices, and resource forecasting. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and analyze financial reports, identifying and tracking variances against forecasts and plans
- Cost & Benefit Management: Collaborate with business and financial partners to create and document sound financial estimates. Ensure that the team regularly reviews initiative budgets, enhancing accuracy in cost estimations.
- Planning & Schedule Management: Enable horizon planning and develop short and long-term integrated plans and roadmaps, ensuring timely adjustments as necessary. Collaborate with stakeholders to define initiative goals and scope, breaking down work into manageable pieces.
- Risk & Issue Management: Anticipate potential financial and schedule risks and issues by conducting regular risk assessments and engaging stakeholders proactively. Develop and implement effective mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize disruptions.
- Initiative Delivery Acumen, Tools and Processes: Leads the team in the use and adoption of key enterprise tools and technology to support initiative delivery. Understands, educates and applies RBC Enterprise Project Management policy, standards frameworks and artifacts. Maintain accurate estimation of initiative timelines, costs, and resources, ensuring that Planview, RBC’s project finance database, reflects up-to-date information.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role working in large programs supporting schedules, roadmaps and financial management.
- Proven track record in program financial management, including experience in developing financial estimates, budgets and large program financial maintenance.
- Advanced planning and scheduling expertise, with experience in building and maintaining detailed integrated program, schedules, roadmaps and timelines.
- Experience with delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Planview, and other enterprise program delivery tools.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with a focus on building relationships and influencing outcomes.
- Communication and facilitation skills, capable of engaging and presenting to diverse audiences effectively.
- Experience in continuous improvement methodologies, strategic delivery, and agile practices.
Nice to have:
- Professional certifications including PMP, CSM
- Experience in financial services
- Undergraduate Degree/Diploma
- Familiarity with change management frameworks and practices.
