YOUR ROLE

The ALDO Group is looking for an experienced buyer to manage our footwear business. The ideal person is energetic, self-motivated, excited about trends, and possesses a positive attitude.
  • Operating as a business manager with regards to planning & budgeting
  • Monitor competition on an ongoing basis
  • Perform pre-season planning (conceptual assortment planning, open to buy)
  • Build & Purchase a balanced collection (styles, breadth and depth) based on the needs of the region(s)
  • Work closely with Product development team to clearly communicate business needs and ensure a strong product offering
  • Attend product filtering sessions to ensure region(s)’ product needs are met.
  • Manage department budget pre-determined by Planning
  • Perform in-season management (repeats, markdowns, etc)
  • Monitor, analyze & report on product performance (weekly sales, weekly best sellers)
  • Achieve target budget and margins through consistent strategic buying and inventory management, achieve sell-through targets.
  • Participate in regional sales strategies
  • Perform cross-function collaboration activities to ensure Go-to-Market calendar activities are delivered.
  • Coach and mentor assistant buyers and buyers.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Business or a related Degree
  • 6-8 years minimum footwear buying experience
  • Solid financial and budgetary comprehension
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Great attitude and a strong team player
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Skilled problem solver and ability to adapt to frequently changing needs of the business
  • Have an eye for up to the minute fashion trends
  • Ability to travel outside Canada
  • Outstanding commercial awareness, with a strong understanding of the high street
  • Good time management, prioritization, negotiation and organizational skills
