Social Worker - Family Support (Counseling and Reunification)

Our client is seeking a Social Workers for a 12 month contract to be a part of Family Intervention and Reunification Management initiative. This initiative is designed to combat youth homelessness within the Black African and Caribbean communities through culturally sensitive counseling and support services aimed at preventing youth homelessness.
Social Worker - Family Support (Counseling and Reunification) 12 Month Contract
Responsibilities:
- Provide culturally appropriate counseling to families in crisis, addressing the underlying causes of youth homelessness such as family dynamics, trauma, and cultural identity.
- Develop and implement care plans with families to promote reunification, ensuring effective communication and conflict resolution strategies.
- Utilize an anti-black racism lens in supporting Black African and Caribbean families, focusing on cultural identity and systemic challenges.
- Link families with relevant community resources, agencies, and networks that align with the service model, ensuring comprehensive support.
- Work to prevent family breakdown by addressing immediate and long-term issues that could lead to youth homelessness.
- Establish connections with local schools to identify at-risk families and provide early intervention, support, and resources. Partner with educators to implement culturally sensitive programs and strategies that promote family stability and prevent homelessness.
- Lead outreach efforts to connect with families through community centers, religious institutions, and other local organizations that serve Black African and Caribbean communities.
- Coordinate and facilitate program activities, including workshops, seminars, support groups, and community events to prevent family breakdown.
- Gather and analyze participant feedback to enhance program effectiveness and responsiveness
Qualifications:
- Master’s in social work or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in social work, community engagement, or program coordination.
- Experience working with Black African and Caribbean families.
- Strong knowledge of family dynamics, anti-black racism, and trauma-informed care principles.
- Proven ability to engage with families and schools to foster early intervention and prevention.
- Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in data tracking and program evaluation tools.
