Process Engineer III (Food & Process)
Job Description:
At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry.We are looking for a talented Process Engineer III (Food/Baking) to join our dedicated team in Vaughan, Ontario.
In this role, you will assist and support the process engineering design for all types of projects, in particular for projects in the Food and Baking Industry. The assignments contain specific tasks on project teams and these individuals are expected to use their education, intelligence, and common sense to resolve the engineering problems and tasks they are assigned.
Additional Responsibilities- Prepare process design documents and deliverables for all phases of projects including Conceptual Designs, Basis of Design, and Detailed Design.
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
- Modify reports, specifications, drawings (PFDs and P&IDs), construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs to the scope of the project as directed by the Lead Engineer.
- Make calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for process design.
- Create specialized drawings such as PFD’s, MFD’s, UDD’s and P&ID’s.
- Select equipment based on recommendations of the Lead Process Engineer and generate equipment lists and schedules.
- Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate into drawings by drafters.
- Research design options and document findings for the Lead Process Engineer.
- Keep the Lead Engineer informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services. Provides information to the Lead Engineer and the wider design team for incorporation into specifications.
- Design in accordance with government and industry guidelines for Food and Baking facilities.
- Organize and maintain project files. Maintains a neat and organized work area which allows efficient access to information required by other team members.
- Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- 7+ years of engineering experience in Food and Baking.
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting.
- Ability to interface with other disciplines on a project where required.
- Experience in a variety of Food and Baking projects, including implementation of traditional and/or new technologies and retrofit of existing production lines.
- Experience with Food and/or Beverage or other Consumer Packaged Goods manufacturing equipment
- Experience with packaging equipment, ovens, liquefiers, kettles, CIP systems, mixers and blenders, and conveyor systems would be considered an asset
- Travel based on the project location.
- This position is a safety-sensitive position.
- The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
