Summary of Duties
Reporting to the Director of Operations for the OR and Related Services the Manager for Medical Device Reprocessing Centre (MDRC) will maintain responsibility for all aspects of medical device reprocessing at the Bayview and Holland Campus of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
The Manager of MDRC role includes shaping and reinforcing a culture of safety, collaboration, teamwork and staff engagement while maintaining an environment that is sensitive to equity, diversity and inclusion.
The MDRC Manager will be responsible for maintaining key performance indicators and continuous quality improvement initiatives to ensure that all MDRD standards and best practices are maintained including IPAC standards and practices.- Support, motivate, and lead team to establish and achieve goals.
- Has the ability to lead change to foster and create innovative solutions for complex issues.
- Manage diverse human, financial and physical resources in a changing and multifaceted environment with diverse, complex and sensitive issues.
- Scheduling of staff and updating of Master Schedules
- Lead and participate in key meetings and committees where appropriate.
- May act as a consultant internally and externally
- Conducts recruitment and hiring of MDRD staff
- 3 - 5 years current leadership experience
- Bachelor Degree in Science required, Master’s Degree preferred
- Previous Management experience required
- A member with a recognized health related regulatory body required
- Graduate of a recognized MDR program required
- Certification in Medical Device Reprocessing (CSA) preferred
- Recognized training in Medical Device Reprocessing and Infection Prevention and Control an asset
- Effective organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to build collaboration and consensus
- Proven expertise in MDRD combined with strong leadership skills is essential
- Experience managing staff in unionized environment
- Effective communicator with strong organizational skills
- Experience coaching and teaching and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others
- Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities
- Ability to lead under pressure
- Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment and collaborates with others in assisting with the delivery of care
- Demonstrated success in establishing, leading and maintaining positive change and continuous quality improvement
- Has knowledge of applicable legislation affecting Human Resources (i.e. Human Rights, Employment Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Act)
