About the Supervisor Role:
We are currently looking for a Supervisor to oversee the management of our daycare facility located in the Newmarket / Aurora area. As a child care supervisor, you will have a chance to build and inspire a team of ECEs, connect with local parents and children, grow a business, demonstrate leadership and work with like-minded, compassionate individuals.
As a Supervisor, you will play a key leadership role in growing the Centre. As such, we are looking for Registered Early Childhood Educators that also have experience managing a day care centre including managing business development, building relationships with families and community stakeholders, managing staff and thinking creatively and innovatively to continuously add value to the Centre and ensure that the staff, children and families are engaged and excited.
The following outlines a list of the Supervisor’s duties/responsibilities: Manage Staff- Manage and provide oversight for the team of bright and motivated teachers that are staffed in each of the classrooms
- Manage hiring of staff through turnover and/or growth (i.e., schedule and conduct interviews, send out job offers where appropriate, etc.)
- Ensure that new staff are trained and have a thorough understanding of policies and procedures
- Conduct monthly staff meetings to ensure staff are engaged and aligned / working towards a common goal
- Ensure all classrooms are following Lesson and prepared for weekly themes
- Manage lesson plan, elect and parent bulletin boards
- Ensure the Centre is Operating According to Ministry Guidelines at all Times
- Ensure that all staff are following Ministry policies / procedures as required
- Ensure that books (attendance logs, communication, etc.) are maintained in accordance with Ministry guidelines
- Liaise with Ministry of Education and York Region regarding all programs including but not limited to fee subsidy, wage enhancement, operations, etc.
- *Be the face of the Centre in the local community
- Actively market the Centre in local communities by going out into the community, raising awareness, leveraging social media and building connections with like-minded organizations
- Conduct community events at the Centre for special occasions (holidays, summer bbq, etc.)
- Build relationships with local community stakeholders and families
- Greet parents with a friendly demeanor
- Answer client inquiries by phone or email in a timely manner
- Maintain spreadsheet / template to ensure good understanding of ratios within each classroom
- Actively review ratios on a weekly basis to have a good understanding of where there is capacity to take on new clients within the centre
- Ensure centre remains on budget (i.e., manage amount spent on groceries, supplies, etc.)
- Collect payments from clients and follow-up on outstanding payments where necessary
- Complete revenue reporting using Sandbox software
- Ensure the facility is clean and maintained well (teachers are responsible for cleaning their classrooms at the end of the day)
- Maintain records in accordance to the day care nursery act
- Set up and takedown equipment as required
- Communicate any concerns or issues to Owner immediately
- Communicate and interact positively with parents, coworkers, the children, Ministry licensing officials and owners.
The following outlines a list of Supervisor Qualifications:
- Must have their Early Childhood Education Diploma
- Must be registered with the College of ECE’s
- Must have a minimum of two years experience as a Supervisor
- Must have valid Police Clearance (Vulnerable Sector)
- Must have current First-Aid/CPR Certification
- Negative TB test results
- Must have up to date immunizations (tetanus and MMR)
- Fit for Work-Medical letter stating that he/she is physically and mentally stable to working in a daycare environment.

- Strong leadership and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Must look and present self in a professional manner
