What is the Opportunity?

As part of the Group Risk Management team (GRM), the Associate Director will work lead, and coordinate activities in managing regulatory-based remediation projects and strategic initiatives spanning Enterprise Resilience (ERR) and broader Operational Risk (OR).

This role collaborates closely with the functions, business and 2LOD Risk partners to facilitate delivery on project requirements, supporting Program Director(s) and the Senior Director of Regulatory Engagement across the full portfolio of regulatory and risk strategy engagements and initiatives.

What will you do?

(a) Regulatory Engagement and Project Management
  • Project manage regulatory requests through the development of forward looking plans to manage annual and ad hoc regulatory and agency requests.
  • Coordinate responses across ERR, OR, and business/functions.
  • Create, coordinate and maintain documentation to satisfy regulatory requests.
  • Ensure consistency in response and messaging including validation with management.
  • Support the Program Director(s) (as required) on post exam process to ensure execution of action plans to remediate matters requiring attention / issues.
  • Responsible to ensure appropriate engagement of appropriate stakeholders and owners to fully remediate MRAs/issues.
  • Lead projects on regulator based remediation activities from initiation through post-implementation review.
  • Support the Program Director(s) in establishing, executing, and maintaining roadmaps and plans to deliver on key strategic priorities across GRM Enterprise Resiliency and Operational Risk.
  • Facilitate decision-making and develop risk-mitigation strategies to ensure the successful closure of remediation activities.
  • Provide change management support for key risk projects and remediation activities.
  • Exhibit good regulation acumen and judgment in the formulation of recommendations to foresee and mitigate high-impact issues and complexities.
  • Support and comply with RBC's Governance Risk Committee’s (GRC) regulatory remediation process requirements aligning with applicable Enterprise Standards in a dynamic environment.
  • Build relationships and ongoing partnerships with key partners across the business, functions, including technology, and operations.
  • Work closely with various teams towards a common goal and negotiate deliverables and milestones as required.
(b) Issue Management & Reporting
  • Manage and report on portfolio of issues on behalf of Enterprise Resilience Risk and Operational Risk teams.
  • Identify and share trends and insights on issues with recommended strategies to mitigate future avoidance.
  • Support Enterprise reporting and governance processes on the issues that are the responsibility of Enterprise Resilience Risk and Operation Risk teams.
What do you need to succeed?
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Regulatory exam / response exposure
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working in a operational risk domain or technology function
  • Maturity level and skill/judgment to be able to deal effectively with senior levels across RBC
  • Excellent presentation and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Strong impact, influence, conflict management, and stakeholdering skills
  • Advanced problem solving, analytical (including qualitative analysis), research, and quantitative skills
  • Ability to synthesize and interpret information covering a wide range of differing business areas.
