The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to deliver and manage large/complex projects across a portfolio for key clients in Canada and the US. The successful candidate will need to Ensure that projects are delivered to time, cost and quality and driving the programme of work to make sure the client needs are met.You will also need to identify areas for improvement and ensure Ricardo’s process’ and governance is adhered to.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of large value projects across a portfolio, implementing and promoting Project Management principles such as change control, risk, financial and documentation management.
- Plan and manage the implementation of projects within the agreed requirements budget, time-lines and customer satisfaction.
- Manage the project, team members and suppliers. Ensure staff involvement, optimal and safe working conditions.
- Ensure delivery of contracted outputs to the required quality, evaluate project and supplier performance identifying lessons for future improvement.
- Understand the customers goals and how Ricardo can contribute to achieve them both within and in addition to current project activity.
- Manage project in accordance with Ricardo's processes and procedure and in line with Ricardo's governance.
- Drive project management practise within Ricardo, delivering, developing and using best practices tools and techniques for effective and consistent ways of working.
- Experience of working in a business/ client services environment.
- Flexible and results-oriented approach to meet varying and competing client and business demands.
- Strong organisational skills to be able to work on multiple tasks and to tight deadlines.
- A proactive approach to problem solving with strong communication and diplomacy skills to negotiate and influence internal and external clients.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with many audiences.
- Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Project, and Power point.
- Be able to learn and proficiently operate Ricardo Rail’s project management software tools.
- Project Management qualifications.
- Versatile and adaptable, able to operate under pressure to meet deadlines and for project success.
- Implementing and promoting Project Management principles such as resource planning.
- Project cost analysis.
- Support the growth of a project organisation, recruit necessary staff and resources and makes agreements for this purpose with internal and external suppliers, if required.
- Monitor project progress, making adjustments and negotiating changes with the customer.
- To be the primary customer interface for the project, establishing strong and effective customer relationships. Ensure a high level of customer service is maintained throughout the project teams.
